Overview
This Qualification covers the history, fundamental concepts, and basic applications of electric vehicles (EVs), including Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs), Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs), and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs). It highlights the advantages of electric motors over internal combustion engines and discusses the design factors for EVs. The course introduces key electrical concepts, such as current, voltage, resistance, and Ohm’s law, along with temperature-resistance relationships and power consumption calculations. It also covers electronic components like Resistors, Capacitors, Inductors, Diodes, Transistors, Semiconductors, and Integrated Circuits (ICs). The module concludes with a focus on motor principles, including the construction, characteristics, and control of DC and AC motors, as well as braking systems and DC generators. Overall, students gain a concise yet comprehensive understanding of EVs and related electrical concepts.
